Away tournament match played on 03 August 2010.
Kicked off at 12:00 AM

Well, after a few drop outs and a little bit of grovelling we managed to get 6 players.

1 that has never played darts before, 1 female (again, cheers Em) and a mate from football that I had never seen play darts before we got a side out.

After submitting my team to the opposition they came back and challenged the fact that I had put Emma in a singles, doubles and trebles game as it was a men only league which meant Joe had to replace her in the singles. TWATS.

So, this was the story of the night:

Longy / Ems / Joe: Steady darts all the way through and even though their skipper pinged a lovely 180 (the first we have witnessed this season) we managed to get down to a double (well almost) before they took out double 18. 1-0 down

Gaz / Chris: Again some good scoring and Moodey turned out to be the surprise package. This boy can play (must be the mis spent youth)! In it all the way down to the wire but just couldn’t check out. 2-0 down

James: Started, as always, with a ton and almost checked out on the Bull! Bent the wire of the bull and was unlucky to get done 2-0 in this game! Still no singles victory, unlucky mate! 3-0 down

James / Longy: Solid scoring from both players, although again we couldn’t finish. With 81 left, James hammers in treble 17 to leave double 15. Missed the next and then hit single 10. Longy got his chance and hit double 6 and then bust with single 18. They cleared up. 4-0 down

James / Chris / Gaz: With James hanging for a fag (no not a gay man, I meant a cigarette) and sparking up outside, the same ciggy for the 3rd time, he got called in! Really unlucky here lads, all played well. Gaz chipping in with a couple of 26’s (back to normal ha ha) but just couldn’t take out the crucial shots. 5-0 down

Now, the chance of winning has gone. The food is almost cooked cos I can fucking smell it! Was this gonna put the ‘Long Man’ off for his singles game?

Called in against Budgie, the same guy he played at home, who is possibly the slowest player ever to have addressed the oche, but a good player none the less, Longy (wearing his glasses and un-showered from his footy match) rolled up to the oche.

Longy: Hits a treble 20 in each of the first 4 throws to set himself up with his favourite 28 finish. But he doesn’t go the double 14 route oh no. Why get 1 double when you can get 2?? Something I learnt in the Mill House one night when James checked out 80 with 2 double tops, remember? He hits double 9 and tidies up with double 5. Second leg starts and Budgie is getting flustered, moving all over the oche. I reckon he had the hump cos he could work the score board in the earlier games when he was chalking! Longy gets down to double 2 and takes a single and double 1 to take his second singles win of the season! 5-1 down

Chris: Good scoring but a 2-0 loss was all that was on the cards. 6-1

Gaz: Some solid scoring against one of their best players but just couldn’t check out. When the ton was hit the swagger (and the smirk) came back but he promptly followed up with a 26 ha ha. 7-1

Joe: The Virgin (darts that is) was welcomed in to singles darts with the guy who smashed a 180 earlier in the night. Some steady work on the 18 got him down to a double in the first leg but got hammered in the second. A good effort for a first timer, well done mate. 8-1

Verdict:

Food: Corned beef pie and corned beef hash - 6/10

Support: Not enough of us round the board - 7/10

James singles: 1/10

Longy singles: 10/10 ha ha
