Away cup match played on 26 October 2013.
Kicked off at 1:30 PM

wells won the penalty shootout.

once again it was the same old story for uea as they travelled the lengthy distance to wells for the 3rd round of the junior cup.

it has been the story of their season so far, dominate games with countless amounts of shots on goal plus an extremely high percentage of the possession but failing to capitalise. this was yet again the case v a wells side that seemed to have been picked by the bar manager in the town the night before. the wells team were made up of all shapes and sizes, young and old but yet clawed out a draw v the students and eventually won on penalties.

this said at least on the rare occasion it seemed that the uea players were actually well geared for this game and gunning to progress to the next round. again like most games they started brightly and it seemed had the game totally under control. with pachnis, tragoustis, jacson and fletcher all combining well up top and creating many chances it seemed as if a goal before half time would come, and indeed this was the case. however it was not uea who took the lead but once again the other team did. with luchowa having nothing to do for most of the half, one of the first things he had to do was pick the ball out of his own net, and see uea go into the break a goal down.

with the wind now in ueas back, it would seem that a goal was on the cards and perhaps more than one. the second half was basically played in wells half with the odd occasion when wells would lump the ball forward to there only decent player being the centre forward who to be fair caused ueas defence a bit of trouble now and again with his pace. however uea kept pushing and pushing and luckily managed to grab an equaliser with 15 minutes left. a mix up in the box by the wells defence made bacon capitalise as he lobbed the goalie from what seemed an impossible angle. with the game now at 1-1 with 15 minutes left there seemed to be if any only one winner in this contest. again uea pilled on the pressure, and with two minutes left as Richards beat the whole back line and with only the goalie to beat it seemed that uea would progress, only to see Richards fail to get any power into his shot and the goalie was glad to see the ball roll into his hands.

this prompted extra time and incredibly uea got off to a flying start as fletcher scored a headed goal from an ap dafydd free kick on the edge of the box to mark wild scenes. however in the space of 30 seconds altay somehow got himself sent off for two bookable offences. this put uea under a lot of pressure from wells who scored right at the depth in the second half of extra time to put the game to penalties.

with wells scoring 4 out of 5 penalties and uea only managing 2 out of 4 this put wells through on yet another disappointing day for uea, who now have a week off and a chance to re group and go again in the league on Saturday.
