Home friendly match played on 16 August 2025.
Kicked off at 4:00 PM

UOC Football welcomed Old Bens FC to their home ground on 16 August 2025 for an 11-a-side friendly match kicking off at 4:00pm. Over the course of 80 minutes plus added time, UOC Football dominated proceedings to secure a 3-0 victory, with all three goals coming from striker Pasindu Prabhath.

UOC Football lined up in a 4-2-3-1 formation, aiming to control the midfield and exploit the flanks. Muthusha Chamod guarded the goal, protected by a back four consisting of Chalitha Marambage at right back, central defenders Priyajan Srikantha and Vimukthi Nanayakkara, and Arshad R operating at left back. The double pivot in central midfield featured Anuruth Kaushalya and Sithum Wijesinghe tasked with breaking up play and distributing the ball forward. Ahead of them, the attacking midfield trio comprised Wendt Edmund on the right, Akith Jayalath centrally, and Mohomed Ihsan on the left, all supporting lone striker Pasindu Prabhath. The substitutes available were Saddhiq Ahamadh, Rashmitha Nilum, Hanan Ahmed, Jude Ajay, and Ravindu Fernando.

The match burst into life early on as UOC Football quickly asserted their attacking intent. In the 16th minute, Wendt Edmund delivered a precise assist to Pasindu Prabhath, who finished clinically to open the scoring. Just two minutes later, Chalitha Marambage surged forward from right back to provide a pinpoint cross that Prabhath converted again, doubling the lead. The striker completed his hat-trick in the 22nd minute, once more assisted by Marambage, who demonstrated impressive attacking support from defence.

UOC Football maintained their dominance throughout the first half, controlling possession and restricting Old Bens FC to few clear chances. The half-time whistle blew with the hosts comfortably 3-0 ahead.

The second half saw a series of tactical substitutions as UOC Football looked to refresh their squad while maintaining control. At the hour mark, Saddhiq Ahamadh replaced left attacking midfielder Mohomed Ihsan to inject fresh energy on the flank. Six minutes later, Rashmitha Nilum came on for central attacking midfielder Akith Jayalath, followed by Hanan Ahmed taking over from central midfielder Sithum Wijesinghe at the 70th minute. Defensive changes were made as well, with Jude Ajay replacing right back Chalitha Marambage in the 75th minute and Ravindu Fernando coming on for central defender Vimukthi Nanayakkara two minutes later.

Despite these changes, UOC Football continued to manage the game effectively, denying Old Bens FC any foothold or momentum. The visitors struggled to penetrate the well-organised defence marshalled by Priyajan Srikantha and Arshad R, while Chamod remained largely untroubled in goal.

Pasindu Prabhath’s clinical finishing and movement earned him the player of the match accolade, as his early hat-trick set the tone for a commanding home victory. The combination of solid defensive organisation, midfield control, and incisive attacking play ensured UOC Football left the pitch with a deserved 3-0 win over Old Bens FC.
