Warley’s last home game of the season saw them play in their red away kit as Club Dudley came to City road wearing their blue kit. The two teams had locked horns twice before this season in the cup and league with Warley winning both, 5-0 and 4-1 respectively. These wins coincided with Dan Willets scoring hatricks on both occasions.

 

The game started brightly from both sides and Warley’s intent was clear as Byron fired over from 8 yards out in the second minute. Warley’s play for the first 10 minutes was somewhat subdued but to their credit they made three good chances all of which were wasted.

The breakthrough came on 13 minutes as after a defensive mix up from Warley allowed Club Dudley to start the scoring Warley Boro 0 Club Dudley 1. Warley responded on 19 minutes Colm’s fantastic goal kick was picked up by Callums marvellous run and brilliant finish to equalise. Warley Boro 1 Club Dudley 1. On 21 minutes Callum fed Dan W. from inside the box to score Warley Boro 2 Club Dudley 1 3 minutes later Warley were further in front after Sam S supplied Dan W. Warley Boro 3 Club Dudley 1 and then on 24 minutes Dan W. hatricks of hatricks was complete as Anil’s brave header set him free to score he’s 24th of the season. Well Done Dan W.! Warley Boro 4 Club Dudley 1.  Warley’s lead would have been extended further but for a superb double save by the Dudley keeper from Sam S.

Coach Jones called for more football in the second half and wanted more awareness and communication from he’s players.

 

On 32 minutes Callum slipped in a sublime ball for Sam S. to fire home Warley Boro 5 Club Dudley 1. Just when you thought that the game as a competition back came Club Dudley who, to their credit, played their part in an enthralling encounter. Their superb through ball caught the Warley defence napping and an advancing Dudley striker calmly placed he’s shot past Colm. Warley Boro 5 Club Dudley 2. Club Dudley continued to have the majority of play with the Warley back four being put under intense pressure clearing off the line in one attack and Colm producing a world class save flying through the air to tip a Dudley strike past the post. It was a phenomenal save worthy of the highest accolade. The save seemingly broke the Dudley resistance as on 51 minutes Warley extended their tally with a goal of the highest order as Sam S. fed by Byron, unleashed an unstoppable shot from all of 27 yards which dipped over the keeper. Warley Boro 6 Club Dudley 2. On 58 minutes Anil ended the scoring with a cool finish after Dan W. turned provider and resulted in the final scoreline Warley Boro 7 Club Dudley 2.

 

Excellent result that keeps us on course for that top four finish. Special mention for Dan W. for he’s hatricks of hatricks, very impressive. As addressed before and after the game we are still too quiet on the pitch. Overall a very good performance with everyone giving 100% effort. Well done.
