4 GOAL HERO

The Wibs turned up too Primrose Lane to face the old enemy in confident mood after starting the league in fine form. Today Chapel Street Whites lay in wait for them and the Whites certainly wanted to get one over on the Wibs after some interesting encounters in previous years. The Wibs were greeted by a very wet pitch and all signs suggested this was going to be a tough game.

Manager Macca chose his team and sent them out on to the pitch with high hopes of a good performance. What he got for the first 15 minutes of the game was a Wibs team that looked like they had never played together before . The wibs were 3-0 down after 15 minutes and in all honesty they deserved it. Things went from bad to worse for the wibs when star defender George Wainwright was taken off after after 20 minutes. After a bit of reshuffling the wibs sorted there defence out by bringing John Cowan on at left back and moving Andy G in the middle. In the 25th minute the wibs managed to get a free kick after Luke Downing was taken out on the edge of the box. The wibs needed something to get them going and Yussef delivered by curling a free kick in to the net from 20 yards. This goal seemed to settle the Wibs and finally they started playing and in the 41st minute Yussef was at it again after firing in from close range after playing a one two off Steve Kayes arse.

Half Time 3-2

Macca gave a rousing half time speech and got the wibbers fired up for the 2nd half. The Wibs knew they had to start the half well and they certainly started brighter than the first half. The Wibs were starting to create chances and were looking to level the scores as quickly as possible. Tom came on for Luke and immediately made an impact by sending Steve Kaye free down the left who then crossed it in for Baz, The Whites defender seemed to get back and make a good tackle but Baz still managed to earn the Wibs a penalty. Yussef stepped up for a chance to score his hat trick and he made no mistakes from the spot. At 3-3 the Wibs looked the stronger team and started to get on top and were hoping to get the winning goal.

The wibs had 2 or 3 good chances to get that goal but the ball would not go in the net for the wibs and in the 78th minutes the wibs were punished for there poor finishing. The Whites got free down the right and played a floated cross to the back stick where it was headed in to be greeted by wild celebrations from the Whites bench. With 10 minutes to go the wibs were in danger of wasting all there hard work but instead of making the wibs players heads dropped it made them more determined than ever and 5 minutes later the Wibs managed to get back on level terms When Steve Kaye took advantage of a goal mouth scramble by scoring a cheeky back heel. This brought equally wild celebrations from the wibs bench. But give it 3 minutes and there celebration were about to go to a new level when yussef scored after another goal mouth scramble to score his 4th goal of the game. The wibs played the game out and took the victory 5-4.

A game that won't be forgotten for a long time in Wibs memories. All credit to the wibs players after showing remarkable determination to get back in the game.
