Home cup match played on 20 October 2013.
Kicked off at 10:30 AM

30 minutes extra time played. Wear United FC won the penalty shootout.

Wear United progressed through to the next round of the cup after a very entertaining match. The 90 minutes was a game of two halves with United in control of the first and Hendon the second. Extra time and penalties completed the entertainment!

United took the lead on 7 minutes when a Michael Earles shot fell into the path of Steve Walls. He took a touch before unleashing the ball into the bottom corner of the net.

United could have been 2 up on 14 mins when Steve Walls released Chris Brown with a delightful ball over the top but Chris beat the keeper only to see the shot come back off the post.

It was 2-0 on 22 mins when Stephen Sheriff played the ball out to Dan Musther who then produced a fantastic solo goal skipping past 3 Hendon players before placing it into the bottom corner

United then scored 2 goals in 2 minutes. On 41 minutes Dan Musther played the ball into Scott Stevenson and he released Steve Walls who put it into the bottom corner. Then a minute later a fantastic run by Andy Meikle ended with him playing in Chris Brown who didn't miss this time!

4-0 to United at half time

Hendon pulled one back on 56 mins when a drilled cross from the right was turned into his own net by Stephen Sheriff.

On 71 minutes it was 4-2 when a shot squirmed in between keeper Steve Barnes and the post

Hendon were right back in the game on 82 minutes when a corner bobbled around in the box and was put in from 4 yards

Hendon completed the comeback on 84 minutes when a ball was played out to the right and the shot was a bullet into the net.

United played extra time with 10 men due to Chris Madden deciding he had enough and walked away. As all 3 subs had been used no changes could be made but it made United work more as a unit and as a team, Still 4-4 after the first half of extra time and in the second half Hendon hit the post twice before taking the lead on 116 mins when a shot went across goal and was tucked in at the back post.

United somehow managed to use the last of their energy to draw level a minute later when Luke Tate charged down a defender and played the ball to Ryan Gordon who curled it superbly past the keeper into the top corner.

Then more drama as Steve Walls was fouled in the box after he controlled a cross by Luke Tate and up stepped Stephen Sheriff in the 119th minute to surely win the game but he put the penalty inches wide.

So the game went to penalties and Hendon went first. Steve Barnes saving it well. Stephen Sheriff was first up for United and despite missing before, he coolly stepped up and sent the keeper the wrong way. Hendon's second penalty was beautifully put into the top corner of the net. Stu Bowman then stepped up and calmly slotted it just to the right of centre. Hendon's 3rd penalty was excellently saved by Steve Barnes diving to his right. Scott Stevenson expertly slotted home United's third and Steve Barnes helped United progress to the next round with another penalty save again diving to his right. United win 3-1 on penaltes
