Away league match played on 30 January 2010.
Kicked off at 10:30 AM

The start of the match was delayed, but once under way both teams played good football in spite of the conditions.  The 1st attacking move came from the Knights, with Courtnage releasing the ball from defence, Owen then slipped the ball to Doel who fire in a cross which was well defender by Haslemere, but at the expense of a corner.  Taken by Holloway, the Haslemere defence cleared their lines, and set off on attack; with good passing they soon found themselves deep in the Knights territory, but the Knights defence of Gundry, Garland, Komboni and Courtnage stood firm and stopped this promising attack.   From defence, Gardener sent Owen goal-ward, in support was Holland and Holloway; as Holland collected the ball Doel made a move down the wing, this was spotted by Holland and he quickly passed to him.  Doel crossed the ball into the danger zone but before Holloway could fire in a shot, a Haslemere defender bravely got in his way.    From a Haslemere goal kick, Sellitto intercepted and slipped the ball to Doel, but his goal-bound effort was cleared off the line by a quick reacting Haslemere defender.  Haslemere then found some space, and with good passing were soon bearing down on the Knights goal; Rust, the Knights keeper came out to meet the attacker, which forced his shot wide.  Powell then got into action, releasing Owen and Holloway; using quick passing Owen gave a goal scoring opportunity to Holloway but his effort was just wide.  As the Knights applied the pressure Haslemere were forced to concede a throw-in; taken by Komboni, Holland flicked the ball to Holloway, Holloway turned and fired goal-ward, but again this was just wide.  Haslemere then fought their way forward, putting the Knights under pressure; Owen, Gundry, Hooper and Courtnage man-marked the Haslemere attackers, leaving them nowhere to go, whereby stopping this attack.  As the minutes were ticking down, Holland intercepted a pass and went for goal, his effort was deflected past the Haslemere keeper and looked goal-bound, a Haslemere defender saw the danger and started racing towards the ball.  Holloway reacted too, sprinting towards the ball, just getting ahead of the defender, slotting home the opening goal of the match.  From the re-start, Haslemere neatly and effectively forced the Knights onto the back foot, but Garland, Komboni, Blackbourn and Courtnage rallied around and soon put pay to yet another promising Haslemere attack.

As the 2nd half started, Haslemere were soon attacking the Knights goal; Hooper cleared the lines and sent Gardener and Owen forward.  Owen saw Holloway in space and sent the ball his way; Holloway reacted by quickly passing to Doel, and his effort brought out a good save from the Haslemere keeper.  Haslemere still kept pressing forward and soon were in a position to shot, but with the pressure of the Knights defence, their efforts went high or wide.  In another Haslemere attack, a well uted pass saw a lone striker bearing down on goal; Tadd, the Knights keeper waited a moment before rushing out and diving at the striker’s feet forcing the ball into touch before he could shoot.  From the resulting corner, Haslemere floated the ball into the Knights danger zone, the ball deflected off a couple of players before going harmlessly wide – Haslemere were unlucky not to score.  This seemed to spur the Knights into action, and a goal-kick taken by Komboni sent Owen bounding forward, Holloway peeled away and received a great ball from Owen.  Holloway and a defender were racing towards goal, Holloway managed to gain an extra yard before firing goal-ward and finding the back of the net, scoring his and the Knights 2nd of the match.  With little time remaining, Haslemere came forward again, forcing the play deep inside the Knights half: a well worked move saw an opening, a striker took aim and his shot look goal-bound: Rust, saw the danger and reacted quickly, stopping the ball one-handed for Gardener to clear; the final whistle blew, bringing this exciting match to an end.  The Knights manager then had to decide who would be man of the match; the honour this week had to go to Owen, due to the fact that he made himself available in all areas of the pitch, helping out in defence and helping control the mid-field.
