Home league match played on 31 October 2009.
Kicked off at 10:00 AM

The Knights came under pressure from Haslemere, straight from the kick-off, but the defensive line-up of Blackbourn, Courtnage, Garland and Komboni held firm.  After stopping a Haslemere attack, Komboni slotted the ball to Holland, who skipped past a few Haslemere players before releasing Holloway goal-ward; Holloway then sent Doel into the danger zone, but his effort on goal went just wide.  Then Haslemere came again, but Tadd, the Knights keeper safely collected the ball.  Tadd then quickly release Courtnage, who sent a searching ball forward for Holloway to chase; but this time the Haslemere keeper reacted first, and put pay to this promising attack.  As the match progressed a well taken throw-in by Komboni saw Hooper racing down the wing, but just as he was about to cross the ball he slipped, and the ball trickled harmlessly into touch.  These inspired Haslemere to venture forward again, and by passing the ball well, were soon in a dangerous position; a powerful cross came in, Tadd dived for the ball but couldn’t hold on, and a quick reaction by Haslemere saw the ball strike the back of the net, 1-0 Haslemere.  From the re-start, the Knights fought their way forward with Gardener, Doel and Holland combining well before releasing Holloway; Holloway fired in a cross but unfortunately for Haslemere, a defender headed the ball into his own net, giving the Knights their equaliser.  Then the Knights began forcing the play and soon were attacking again; but shoots by Hooper, Powell, Gardener and Doel, were all wide of the mark.  Sellitto then starting delivering the crosses needed by the Knights, and he soon slipped the ball to Doel; Doel quickly released Gardener, who in turn sent Holland flying towards the Haslemere goal.  Haslemere rallied and Holland’s route was blocked, but quick feet by Holland allowed Holloway a route towards goal – and he didn’t disappoint, slotting home the Knights 2nd goal of the match.  As the half was drawing to a close the Knights again ventured forward with Doel, Hooper and Powell combining, but none could find the back of the net.  A late throw-in, taken by Komboni gave Courtnage the opportunity to shot from distance, which brought off a good save by the Haslemere keeper.

2nd half saw Sellitto and Holland racing towards the Haslemere goal; Sellitto rounded a player before sliding the ball into the path of Holland, he fired goal-ward but his effort was well blocked.  As the ball came out, a quick break by Haslemere put pressure on the Knights goal; however, Garland and Choularton were there to tidy up.  The Knights then appear to dominate, where Gardener, Sellitto and Doel were challenging for every ball.  Komboni released Gardener and Doel goal-ward, but the final effort by Doel forced the Haslemere keeper to make a great save; a few moments later Powell collected the ball and raced down the wing, crossing to Holloway, and again he skilfully slotted home another goal for the Knights.  Haslemere then rallied forward and a lone striker was allowed room to shoot but Rust came off his line quickly and took control of the ball.  Haslemere again attacked and Rust palmed the ball to Courtnage, he in turn launched a quick ball forward and Doel gave chase.  Doel headed goal-ward, ploughing his way forward until he had only the keeper to beat; without hesitation he fired, giving the Haslemere keeper no change, scoring a great goal for the Knights.  The time was ticking away but both teams kept trying to score, but the final whistle blew and the Knights were victorious.  The manager then had to decide who should be awarded man of the match; Sellitto was given this honour because of the way he played throughout the entire match, challenging for every ball and delivering quality crosses into the heart of the danger zone.
