The Saints continued there fine recent form as they came out on top in a nine goal thriller at the Barking Dog coming from behind twice to seal a 4th win in their last 5 as their promotion push continues to gather momentum.

Naming an unchanged line up from last weeks win over Stobswood the Quay were slow out of the blocks and went behind after 5 minutes when Sluice forward Ben Meant found too much space 25 yards from goal and he curled a wonderful strike past Ellis Burns into the top corner to give his side the lead.

Burns went down in agony after landing awkwardly on his ankle when claiming a catch minutes later and was forced off and with no substitute keeper on the bench a reshuffle took place with centre half Callum Ancrum donning the gloves and Ryan Ferrier coming on to lead the forward line as Matty Adams moved back into central defence.

The difficult start to the game continued as the visitors doubled their advantage, a corner was flicked on into the path of centre half Kieran Moffatt who smashed an unstoppable left foot volley into the top corner from 12 yards.

Adams was then forced off with a thigh problem adding to the Saints woes with youngster Luke Taylor recently signed from Longbenton FC coming on in his place for his debut.

Willington pulled themselves back into the game on the half hour mark from the penalty spot, Brandon Williams was brought down in the area and he picked himself up to send the keeper the wrong way from the spot for his tenth goal of the season.

Minutes later the score was level, Ross Thirlaway sent over a curling corner which was met by a bullet header from midfielder Lee Crammond from 8 yards which left the keeper helpless.

Just before the break Seaton went back ahead, Taylor on debut misplacing a pass to Sluice midfielder Nick Doyle who punished the loose ball by superbly curling the ball past Ancrum into the corner to make it 3-2 at the break.

Taylor responded brilliantly after the break making amends for his error as he slid a through ball for Joe Connor to run onto and he made no mistake slipping the ball past the onrushing keeper to level the scores once more.

The Quay went ahead for the first time of the day ten minutes after the interval, Crammond who was becoming more and more influential in the game bent a perfect ball for Connor to run onto and he cut back onto his right before finishing at the near post for his 10th goal of the season.

Connor then turned provider as the Saints opened up a two goal cushion as his left wing pull back fell nicely for Ferrier who took a touch before stabbing a shot past the keeper from 6 yards to give the Quay daylight.

The visitors who were on the back of three successive wins fought back and set up a thrilling climax to the game when they pulled it back to 5-4 with fifteen minutes to go as Sam Johnson added to Seaton's collection of stunning finishes bending a curler of his own into the corner from 25 yards.

Sluice could and probably should of left with a point but they were left to rue a glorious chance in the dying minutes as a free kick from the left was somehow headed wide of the far post, Ancrum the makeshift stopper then rushed out of his goal to head away a dangerous attack before with the last action of the game a long throw into the Saints area was met with a great defensive header from Noel Clynch and when the ball was cleared away the referee blew for full time to the relief and joy of the Saints touch line.

The win moves Willington level on points with Cramlington United in third place setting up a massive game between the two sides on Saturday.
