Another league game at St Johns, another big outing for the Old Boys. A crap run of games has meant we really needed to get a win under our belts. Our confidence needed a boost and so did our point tally. We knew this game was going to be one where we really had to step up and start playing as well as we know we can do.
2 minutes in, we’ve conceded a poorly dealt with lofted ball through to their striker, a loss of concentration and we are 1-0 down. From the rest of the game we played like we had already lost. From then on I only saw a few players on the pitch really trying to compete for it. There were far too many unchallenged headers and poorly read passes, it was this lack of urgency to our team play that left us chasing the game for 90 minutes.
A real dissapointing match it has to be said. Its frustrating to see us losing games where we just roll over instead of wanting to fight for the ball and the win. Being Old Boys number one fan its also dissapointing to keep seeing us lose. I want to watch us win!
