Young Stars hosted Hotstars FC at Rheenendal on 14 June 2026, kicking off at 1:00pm in a league home match that ended in a 0-0 stalemate after 90 minutes plus added time. Despite numerous attempts and tactical substitutions, neither side could break the deadlock in this tightly contested encounter.

Young Stars lined up in a 4-2-3-1 formation, deploying Jerome Boukers in goal. The defensive line consisted of Boettie at right back, Rushine Davids and Arzi as central defenders, and Kyle on the left. In midfield, Lizzy and Junior Juks operated as the two holding central midfielders tasked with both defensive cover and linking play. Ahead of them, the attacking trio featured Algin Kleynhans on the right, Kiembie centrally as the attacking midfielder, and Zop on the left, all supporting the lone striker Ivandre Haaland. The substitutes available were Seuna, Xavior Stukkies, Yanga, and Maydie.

The match began with Young Stars probing for openings, with Algin Kleynhans forcing an early attempt on goal in the 21st minute, though his effort sailed high over the bar. Two minutes later, Kiembie was flagged offside, halting a promising attack and highlighting the fine margins in the visitors’ defensive organisation.

Hotstars FC received a yellow card in the 30th minute for persistent infringements, reflecting the physical nature of the contest and their determination to disrupt Young Stars’ rhythm. As the first half progressed, Arzi committed a foul in the 41st minute, momentarily halting the flow of the game and underscoring the defensive discipline required against a probing Hotstars side.

The first half concluded with the scoreline still goalless, both teams having shown glimpses of attacking intent but unable to convert chances into goals.

Shortly after the interval, Young Stars made a double tactical substitution in the 57th minute, introducing Seuna for Kyle at left back and Rushine Davids replacing Junior Juks in central midfield. These changes aimed to refresh the squad’s defensive solidity and midfield control as the match intensified.

Further tactical adjustments followed in the 63rd minute when Xavior Stukkies came on for Kiembie, signalling a shift in attacking approach. However, Kiembie was again caught offside just a minute later due to a mistimed run, reflecting the challenges Young Stars faced in breaking down the Hotstars defence.

Ivandre Haaland had a notable effort in the 64th minute, but his shot flew high, mirroring the earlier attempt from Kleynhans and maintaining the goalless scoreline.

The tactical substitutions continued with Yanga replacing Kiembie in the 71st minute, reinforcing the attacking options. Shortly after, in the 74th minute, Maydie was brought on for Zop due to injury, forcing Young Stars to adapt their left attacking midfield role.

Despite these changes and persistent pressure, neither side managed to find the net, with Hotstars FC defending resolutely and Young Stars unable to capitalise on their chances. The match ended in a goalless draw, a fair reflection of a game marked by tactical battles and defensive resilience on both sides.
