On 21 February 2026, Young Stars hosted Future Stars at Rheenendal in a lively league encounter that kicked off promptly at 12:00pm. The home side emerged emphatically victorious with a 5-2 scoreline after 90 minutes of competitive football, much to the delight of the 100 spectators in attendance.
Young Stars lined up in a 4-2-3-1 formation, deploying Cardo Maquena in goal. The defensive line consisted of Zop at right back, Arzi and Kyle as central defenders, and Chello on the left flank. In midfield, Rushine Davids and Lizzy operated as the two central midfielders tasked with both defensive duties and linking play. Ahead of them, the attacking trio featured Algin Kleynhans on the right wing, Sout Lesley centrally as the attacking midfielder, and Chip Calwick on the left. Leading the line was striker Ivandre Haaland, expected to spearhead the attack and convert chances. On the bench, Yanga was named as the sole substitute available.
The match burst into life early on with Young Stars taking the lead in the 19th minute. Rushine Davids delivered a spectacular direct goal from a corner kick, catching the Future Stars defence off guard and sending the home crowd into raptures. This early breakthrough set the tone for the remainder of the first half.
Ten minutes later, Ivandre Haaland doubled the advantage, finishing neatly inside the box after a precise assist from Algin Kleynhans. The right winger’s delivery was instrumental in carving open the opposition’s defence. The momentum continued as Kleynhans himself found the net in the 35th minute, expertly converting a long pass from Davids with his left foot inside the box, showcasing his technical ability and composure.
Just before the interval, Haaland struck again in the 43rd minute, once more assisted by Kleynhans, to make it 4-0. The striker’s clinical finishing and intelligent positioning proved too much for Future Stars to handle. The half concluded with Young Stars firmly in control and a commanding lead.
The second half saw Young Stars maintain their attacking impetus. Haaland completed his hat-trick in the 64th minute, further extending the lead and cementing his status as the standout performer of the match. His movement and sharpness in front of goal were decisive throughout the game.
In the 70th minute, Young Stars made a tactical substitution, bringing on Yanga to replace Sout Lesley. This change aimed to refresh the attacking options and maintain the team’s dominance on the pitch.
Despite the heavy deficit, Future Stars managed to pull two goals back late in the game, scoring in the 74th and 89th minutes. However, these efforts proved insufficient to alter the outcome as Young Stars held firm to secure a comprehensive 5-2 victory.
Ivandre Haaland was deservedly named Player of the Match for his outstanding contribution, netting a hat-trick and consistently troubling the opposition defence. Referee Charles oversaw the match with a steady if unremarkable performance.
Overall, Young Stars delivered a commanding display at Rheenendal, blending tactical discipline with attacking flair to outclass Future Stars in this entertaining league fixture.
