Team Details

AFC Croydon Athletic is a football club based in Thornton Heath in the London Borough of Croydon, England. The club are currently members of the Combined Counties League Premier Division South and play at the Mayfield Stadium. They are affiliated to the London Football Association.

History

The club was formed in 2012 by fans of Croydon Athletic F.C. after that club withdrew from the Isthmian League during the 2011–12 season and eventually folded. Prior to their resignation, the club's owner Mazhar Majeed had been jailed following his involvement in the Pakistan cricket spot-fixing scandal, Majeed had been recorded admitting that he had purchased the club solely in order to launder money, and the club had been locked out of its ground by the local council due to unpaid debts. The new club joined Division One of the Combined Counties League for the 2012–13 season.

Cherry Red Records Combined Counties Football League

The Cherry Red Records Combined Counties Football League is an English football league in the South East of England. It is the ninth tier of the English football league system. The league was founded in 1986 as the Combined Counties League, and was renamed in 2018 after a sponsorship deal with Cherry Red Records.

The league consists of two divisions, Premier Division South and Premier Division North. The champions of each division are promoted to the Isthmian League Division One South Central, while the bottom two teams in each division are relegated to Division One.

The league has a total of 40 clubs, with 20 clubs in each division. The current champions of the Premier Division South are Hampton & Richmond Borough, while the current champions of the Premier Division North are Merstham.
