Asante Kotoko Sporting Club, simply known as Asante Kotoko, is a professional football club based in Kumasi, Ashanti Region, Ghana. They compete in the Ghana Premier League and play their home matches at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium.
History
Asante Kotoko was founded on August 31, 1935, by a group of young men from Kumasi. The club's original name was Asante Kotoko Jubilee Club, but it was later changed to Asante Kotoko Sporting Club.
Asante Kotoko has won the Ghana Premier League a record 24 times, more than any other club in Ghana. They have also won the CAF Champions League twice, in 1970 and 1983.
Asante Kotoko is one of the most popular and supported clubs in Ghana. They have a large fan base both in Ghana and in the Ghanaian diaspora.
Recent Performance
Asante Kotoko finished as runners-up in the Ghana Premier League in the 2021-22 season. They are currently in first place in the 2022-23 season.
