Atherstone Town Football Club

Atherstone Town Community Football Club is a football club based in Atherstone, Warwickshire, England. They are currently members of the Midland League Premier Division and play at Sheepy Road.

History

The club was founded in 1887 and originally played in the Birmingham & District League. They joined the Midland League in 1900 and were champions in 1903–04. The club then spent a number of years in the Southern League, before returning to the Midland League in 1973.

Atherstone Town won the Midland League again in 1986–87 and were promoted to the Southern League Premier Division. They reached the first round of the FA Cup for the first time in 1987–88, losing to VS Rugby. The club were Midland Division runners-up in 1988–89 and were promoted to the Premier Division.

Atherstone Town spent the next 10 seasons in the Premier Division, before being relegated in 1999. They returned to the Premier Division in 2005, but were relegated again in 2010. The club have been playing in the Midland League Premier Division since then.

Recent seasons

Atherstone Town finished 10th in the Midland League Premier Division in 2021–22. They reached the third round of the FA Vase, where they lost to Stourbridge.

The club's home ground is Sheepy Road, which has a capacity of 3,000. The club's colours are red and white.
