The club was founded in 1905 and have played at their current ground, The Recreation Ground, since 1920. They have won the Mid-Essex Football League Premier Division on four occasions, in 1971–72, 1982–83, 1999–00 and 2007–08.
The club's home colours are red shirts, white shorts and red socks. Their most famous player is Clayton Blackmore, who played for the club as a youth before going on to have a successful career in the Football League.
