Football is the most popular sport in Brazil and a prominent part of the country's national identity. The Brazil national football team has won the FIFA World Cup five times, the most of any team, in 1958, 1962, 1970, 1994 and 2002. History

Brazil's most successful period in football was in the 1960s and 1970s, when they won three World Cups in a row. The team was led by Pelé, widely considered to be one of the greatest footballers of all time. Brazil also won the World Cup in 1994 and 2002.
Current state
Brazil is still a major force in world football, but they have not won the World Cup since 2002. The team is currently ranked fifth in the FIFA World Rankings.
