Briton Ferry Llansawel was formed in 2006 following the merger of Briton Ferry Athletic and Llansawel. Briton Ferry Athletic was founded in 1925, while Llansawel was founded in 1962.
The merged club has enjoyed some success in recent years, winning the Welsh Football League Division Two in 2009 and the JD Cymru South in 2017.
