David Football Club was founded in 1946 by a group of friends who met at the David pub in Manchester Gorton. The club's first game was played against Gorton Villa on 21st September 1946, with David winning 3-1.

The club has competed in a variety of leagues over the years, including the Manchester League, the Cheshire League, and the North West Counties League. David won the Cheshire League in 1979-80 and the North West Counties League Premier Division in 2017-18.
