Chennaiyin FC

Chennaiyin FC is an Indian professional football club based in Chennai, Tamil Nadu. The club competes in the Indian Super League (ISL), the top flight of Indian football. The club was founded in August 2014 during the inaugural season of the Indian Super League.

Chennaiyin FC has won the Indian Super League title on two occasions, in the 2015 and 2017–18 seasons respectively. The club is owned by the Chennaiyin Sports Private Limited, a consortium of Indian businessmen led by Vita Dani.

Chennaiyin FC play their home matches at the Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium in Chennai nicknamed the Marina Arena. The stadium is located at Sydenhams Road, Park Town behind the Chennai Central suburban Railway station and Ripon Building. The stadium is named after Jawaharlal Nehru, India's first Prime Minister and earlier hosted cricket Test Matches between 1956 and 1965.

History

Chennaiyin FC was founded in August 2014 by Vita Dani, Abhishek Bachchan, and MS Dhoni. The club was one of eight teams that competed in the inaugural season of the Indian Super League.

Chennaiyin FC finished the inaugural season of the Indian Super League in third place. The club reached the final of the 2015 season, but lost to ATK.

Chennaiyin FC won the 2017–18 season of the Indian Super League. The club defeated Bengaluru FC in the final.
