Nucleo Veteranos Sousel was founded in 1982 by a group of friends who wanted to continue playing football after they retired from playing at a younger age. The team quickly became one of the most successful veteran teams in Portugal, winning the Campeonato de Veteranos da AF Portalegre a record 10 times.
The team has also represented Portugal in several international tournaments, including the European Veteran Football Championship. In 2018, Nucleo Veteranos Sousel won the silver medal at the tournament.
