Premier Team is a football (soccer) team from Mersch, Luxembourg. The team was founded in 1972 and currently plays in the National Division, the top flight of Luxembourgian football.
Premier Team has won the Luxembourgian Cup twice, in 1989 and 2000. The team has also finished as runners-up in the Luxembourgian Cup on three occasions.
Premier Team's home ground is the Stade Communal de Mersch, which has a capacity of 2,000 spectators.
History
Premier Team was founded in 1972 as a merger of two local clubs, FC Mersch and US Mersch. The team's first season was in the Luxembourg Second Division, and they were promoted to the Luxembourg First Division in 1974.
Premier Team spent the next 15 years in the First Division, before being relegated to the Second Division in 1989. The team bounced back to the First Division in 1990, and have remained there ever since.
Premier Team's most successful period came in the early 2000s. The team won the Luxembourgian Cup in 1999 and 2000, and finished as runners-up in the league in 2000.
Premier Team has struggled in recent years, and have finished in the bottom half of the league in each of the last three seasons.
