History
The club was founded in 1892 and originally played in the Northumberland League. They joined the Northern Alliance in 1922 and have been members of the league ever since.
The club's most successful period came in the 1970s, when they won the Northern Alliance League championship three times in a row (1972–73, 1973–74, and 1974–75). They also reached the final of the FA Vase in 1974, but lost to Whitby Town.
Recent seasons
The club has struggled in recent years, finishing bottom of the Northern Alliance League in 2013–14 and 2015–16. However, they have since recovered and finished in mid-table in recent seasons.
