Saints Football Club was founded in August 1938 by three local residents, Eric Butler, Fred Stopp, and Terry Waye. The club's first home ground was at the Recreation Ground in Newton Abbot. In 1947, the club moved to its current home ground, Churchfield.
Saints Football Club has never played in the Football League. The club's highest level of achievement was in the 1970s, when they won the South Devon League and the Devon Senior Cup.
