Sheffield City FC was founded in 2019 by a group of local football enthusiasts. The club's first season was in the Sheffield & District Senior League Division Two, where they finished as runners-up. The following season, the club won promotion to Division One.
In the 2021-22 season, Sheffield City FC reached the final of the Sheffield & District Senior League Cup, but lost to Sheffield United F.C. Reserves.
