The team was founded in 2018 by David Scott. Scott is a former professional footballer who played for Hartlepool United and Darlington. He wanted to create a team for older players who still wanted to enjoy the game of football.
West Hartlepool Strollers have been very successful since their formation. They have won the Durham County FA Leagues title twice, in 2019 and 2020. They have also reached the final of the FA Walking Football Cup on two occasions.
The team is made up of a mix of former professional footballers and amateur players. They train once a week at West Hartlepool Rugby Club.

Durham County FA Leagues
The Durham County FA Leagues is a walking football league for teams over the age of 50. The league was founded in 2017 and currently has 12 teams.
The league is divided into two divisions, the Premier Division and the Division One. The Premier Division is the top flight of the league and is contested by the best teams in the county.
The league season runs from September to May. Each team plays each other once, with the top two teams in each division qualifying for the playoffs.
The winner of the Premier Division is crowned the Durham County FA Walking Football Champion.
