South West Peninsula League

The South West Peninsula League is an amateur football league in England, which was formed in 2007 from the merger of the Devon County League and the South Western League. The league covers Cornwall, Devon, western Somerset and western Dorset.

The league has two divisions: Premier Division East and Premier Division West. The top two teams from each division are promoted to the Western League Premier Division, while the bottom two teams from each division are relegated to the Devon & District League Premier Division or the South Western League Division One.

History

South West Peninsula League action

The South West Peninsula League was formed in 2007 by the merger of the Devon County League and the South Western League. The Devon County League was founded in 1921, and the South Western League was founded in 1938.

The inaugural season of the South West Peninsula League was in 2007-08. The champions were Tavistock, who also won the Walter C Parson Cup.

Current Season

South West Peninsula League match

The current season of the South West Peninsula League is 2023-24. The Premier Division East is currently being led by Saltash United, while the Premier Division West is currently being led by Cullompton Rangers.

The Walter C Parson Cup is currently being contested by all 40 teams in the league. The final will be played on 27 May 2024.
