Sutton & District Sunday League
The Sutton & District Sunday League is an amateur football league based in Sutton Coldfield, West Midlands, England. It was founded in 1921 and currently has 40 teams competing in four divisions.
History
The Sutton & District Sunday League was founded in 1921 by a group of local footballers who wanted to play the game on Sundays rather than Saturdays. The league initially had just four teams, but it has grown steadily over the years and now has over 40 teams.
The league has been home to some talented players over the years, including former England internationals Geoff Thomas and Paul Warhurst. The league also has a strong tradition of producing young players, with several players who have gone on to play professional football having started their careers in the Sutton & District Sunday League.
Current Structure
The Sutton & District Sunday League currently has four divisions: Premier Division, Division One, Division Two, and Division Three. The top two teams in each division are promoted at the end of the season, while the bottom two teams are relegated.
The league also has a number of cup competitions, including the Premier Cup, Division One Cup, Division Two Cup, and Division Three Cup. The Premier Cup is the most prestigious cup competition in the league and is contested by the top teams in the Premier Division.
