About Bournemouth University Campus Football Leagues

About the leagues

Bournemouth University Campus Football Leagues are SportBU's organised student competitions. They are for Bournemouth University and Arts University Bournemouth students, giving groups of friends, coursemates and housemates a route into regular campus football.

Formats and venues

The current Campus Sport programme includes men's 5-a-side, men's 9-a-side and men's 11-a-side football, alongside a women's 5-a-side league and a Freshers 5's competition for first-year BU and AUB students. Matches are played at the university's Talbot Campus and Chapel Gate facilities, depending on the format.

How the competitions work

Campus leagues run in the autumn and spring terms. SportBU organises the venue, equipment and referees. The 5-a-side programme combines league play with a finals-day cup competition, while the 11-a-side programme includes autumn ranking football before spring Premiership and Championship sections, plus an annual cup competition.

Getting involved

Teams and individual students can enter the campus leagues. SportBU also runs recruitment events for free agents who want to join an existing side, which can help students without a ready-made team take part.
