Burton & District Sunday Football League

The Burton & District Sunday Football League (BDSFL) is an amateur football league based in Burton upon Trent, Staffordshire, England. It was founded in 1964 and currently has 32 teams competing in four divisions.

History

The BDSFL was founded in 1964 by a group of local football enthusiasts. The first season saw just eight teams compete, but the league has since grown to its current size of 32 teams.

Burton & District Sunday Football League action

The BDSFL is affiliated to the Football Association (FA) and is a member of the Birmingham County Football Association. The league's headquarters are located at the Pirelli Stadium in Burton upon Trent.

Divisions

The BDSFL currently has four divisions:

  • TAG Premier Division
  • Division 1
  • Division 2
  • Division 3

The teams in each division play each other twice, once at home and once away. The top team in each division at the end of the season is promoted to the next division, while the bottom team in each division is relegated to the next lower division.

Cup competitions

The BDSFL also runs a number of cup competitions, including:

  • The Presidents Cup
  • The Junior Challenge Cup
  • The First Choice Challenge Cup
  • The Division 3 Divisional Cup

The winners of these cup competitions qualify for the FA Sunday Cup, which is the national cup competition for amateur Sunday league teams.
