Derbyshire Girls & Ladies League (An England Accredited League)

The Derbyshire Girls & Ladies League (DGL) is an amateur football league for girls and women in Derbyshire, England. It is an England Accredited League, which means that it meets the standards set by the Football Association (FA).

History

The DGL was founded in 1972. The first season had just four teams, but the league has grown steadily over the years and now has over 100 teams competing in a variety of age groups and divisions.

Structure

The DGL is divided into three divisions: the Premier Division, Division One, and Division Two. The Premier Division is the top division and is played on a Saturday. Division One and Division Two are played on a Sunday.

The DGL also has a number of cup competitions, including the Derbyshire Girls' Cup, the Derbyshire Ladies' Cup, and the Derbyshire Girls' Challenge Cup.

Derbyshire Girls & Ladies League (An England Accredited League) match

The 2022-23 season was the most successful season in the history of the DGL. The Belper Town Ladies First team won the Premier Division title, while the Amber Valley Ladies Football Club First team won the Division One title.

The DGL is also home to a number of talented players who have gone on to play for professional clubs. These include Jess Fishlock, who played for the Welsh national team and the Seattle Reign in the United States, and Laura Bassett, who played for the England national team and the Chelsea Ladies.
