Gaborone Youth League
The Gaborone Youth League (GYL) is an amateur football league in Gaborone, Botswana. It was founded in 1996 and is currently the largest youth football league in the country. The league consists of over 100 teams, divided into four divisions.
History
The GYL was founded in 1996 by a group of football enthusiasts in Gaborone. The league was originally intended to provide a competitive environment for young players in the city. The GYL has since grown to become the largest youth football league in Botswana.

The GYL has produced a number of talented players who have gone on to play professional football. Some of the notable alumni of the GYL include Kabelo Dambe, who plays for the Botswana national team, and Neo Maphosa, who plays for South African club Mamelodi Sundowns.
Structure
The GYL consists of four divisions: the Premier Division, Division One, Division Two, and Division Three. The Premier Division is the top division and consists of the best teams in the league. The other three divisions are divided into groups, with the top teams in each group promoted to the next division at the end of the season.

The GYL season runs from September to May. Each team plays each other team in their division twice, once at home and once away. The top two teams in each division at the end of the season are promoted to the next division, while the bottom two teams are relegated to the next lower division.
