Intermediate 1 Football League

The Intermediate 1 Football League is an amateur football league in England. It is the seventh tier of the English football league system, and is also known as Step 7. The league is divided into regional divisions, with each division containing 16 teams. The top two teams in each division are promoted to the Northern Premier League Division One North or Southern League Division One South, while the bottom two teams are relegated to the Intermediate 2 Football League.

History

The Intermediate 1 Football League was formed in 1987, when the Northern Counties East Football League and the Southern Football League merged. The league was originally called the Northern Premier League Division Two, but was renamed the Intermediate 1 Football League in 2004.

The current season of the Intermediate 1 Football League is the 2022-23 season. The league is being contested by 16 teams, divided into two divisions: the Northern Division and the Southern Division. The top two teams in each division will be promoted to the Northern Premier League Division One North or Southern League Division One South, while the bottom two teams in each division will be relegated to the Intermediate 2 Football League.
