The LSIRS (Lakeshore Independent Recreational Sports) is an amateur football league in the Chicago metropolitan area. It was founded in 1980 and currently has over 100 teams in its various divisions.
The LSIRS is a non-profit organization that is dedicated to providing a fun and competitive environment for adults to play football. The league offers a variety of divisions for players of all skill levels, including men's, women's, and co-ed teams.
The LSIRS season runs from May to September. Games are played on Saturdays and Sundays at various locations in the Chicago area.
The LSIRS was founded in 1980 by a group of friends who wanted to play football without having to commit to a full-contact league. The league started with just a few teams, but it has grown steadily over the years.
In 1990, the LSIRS added a women's division. This was the first women's football league in the Chicago area.
In 2000, the LSIRS added a co-ed division. This division is open to teams of men and women.
The LSIRS currently has the following divisions:
The Recreational Division is for players who are new to football or who want to play in a less competitive environment.
The Competitive Division is for players who want to play in a more challenging environment.
The LSIRS follows the rules of the American Amateur Football Association (AAFA). The AAFA rules are based on the rules of the National Football League (NFL), but they have been modified to make them more suitable for amateur players.
