The Rotherham & District Sunday League is an amateur football league based in Rotherham, South Yorkshire, England. It was founded in 1921 and currently has over 100 clubs competing in 10 divisions.

History

The Rotherham & District Sunday League was founded in 1921 by a group of local football enthusiasts. The first season consisted of just 12 teams, but the league has since grown to become one of the largest and most successful Sunday leagues in the country.

The league has been won by a number of well-known clubs, including Rotherham United, Sheffield United, and Barnsley. In recent years, the league has also been won by a number of smaller clubs, which shows that it is open to teams of all abilities.

Divisions

The Rotherham & District Sunday League currently has 10 divisions:

  • Premier Division
  • Championship
  • Division 1
  • Division 2
  • Division 3
  • Division 4
  • Division 5
  • Division 6
  • Division 7
  • Division 8
  • Division 9

The top two teams in each division are promoted to the next division, while the bottom two teams are relegated to the next division.

Cup competitions

The Rotherham & District Sunday League also hosts a number of cup competitions, including:

  • The Brian Beeley Knock-Out Cup
  • The Rotherham and District FA David Marshall Invitation Cup
  • The Rotherham & District Sunday League Cup
  • The Rotherham & District Sunday League Challenge Cup

These cup competitions are open to all teams in the league and provide an opportunity for teams to win silverware.
