South Lancashire Counties Football League

The South Lancashire Counties Football League (SLCFL) is an amateur football league in England. It is based in the south of Lancashire and covers the areas of Wigan, Leigh, St Helens, and Bolton. The league was founded in 1919 and currently has four divisions: Premier, Division One, Division Two, and Division Three.

History

The SLCFL was founded in 1919 as the South Lancashire and Cheshire Football League. The league was originally divided into two divisions, with the Premier Division being the top flight and Division One being the second tier. In 1973, the league was renamed the South Lancashire Counties Football League.

The SLCFL has had a number of champions over the years, including Wigan Athletic, Leigh RMI, and St Helens Town. The current champions are AFC Darwen, who won the Premier Division title in 2022-23.

Current Season

The 2023-24 season is currently underway. The Premier Division is being contested by 18 teams, with AFC Darwen, Golborne Sports, and Leigh Genesis the current top three. Division One is being contested by 16 teams, with Standish Sabres, Westbank, and Hawkley Athletic the current top three. Division Two is being contested by 14 teams, with Hindley Juniors, Pennington, and Ince Rose Bridge the current top three. Division Three is being contested by 12 teams, with Blackbrook FC, Daisy Hill FC, and Ashton Athletic the current top three.
