The Warrington District Football League was originally formed in 1882, but was disbanded in 1914 due to World War I. It was reformed in 1919 and has been running continuously ever since.

The league has grown steadily over the years and currently has 76 clubs playing in 4 divisions. The top division is the Premier Division, followed by Division 1, Division 2, and Division 3.

The 2022-23 season is currently underway. The Premier Division is being led by Newton-le-Willows Town, followed by Lymm Town and Woolston Rovers.

Honours

The most successful club in the history of the league is Newton-le-Willows Town, who have won the Premier Division title a record 14 times. Other successful clubs include Lymm Town, Woolston Rovers, and West Bank United.
