Winnipeg High School Football League (WHSFL)

The Winnipeg High School Football League (WHSFL) is an amateur football league for high schools in Winnipeg, Manitoba. It was founded in 1966 and currently has 28 member schools.

Divisions

The WHSFL is divided into three divisions:

  • Division 1 (Gustafson Conference): This is the top division and consists of the eight highest-ranked schools in the league.
  • Division 2 (Vidruk Conference): This division consists of the next eight highest-ranked schools in the league.
  • Division 3 (Currie Conference): This division consists of the remaining 12 schools in the league.

Season

The WHSFL season runs from August to November. Each team plays a 10-game regular season, followed by a playoff. The playoffs culminate in the ANAVETS Bowl, which is the championship game for Division 1.

Notable alumni

The WHSFL has produced many notable alumni, including:

  • Dale Wolstenholme: Former CFL quarterback and current head coach of the Winnipeg Blue Bombers.
  • Jeff Reinebold: Former CFL head coach and current defensive coordinator for the Montreal Alouettes.
  • Mike O'Shea: Former CFL player and current head coach of the Winnipeg Blue Bombers.
  • Dustin Molnar: Former CFL player and current offensive coordinator for the Saskatchewan Roughriders.
  • Mike Reilly: Current CFL quarterback for the Edmonton Elks.
