Home friendly match played on 06 August 2011.
Kicked off at 12:00 AM

Abernants 2nd friendly was against a well organised Mountain Ash Athletic, the opening exchanges were end to end but it was the away team who opened the scoring just after the first quarter with a through ball which the home team failed to deal with and the away teams player taking the ball around the keeper 0 -1 to the Mount, the home team had their fair share of the chances for the rest of the second half but failed to score.

The second goal went to the visitors when a long ball was played into the home team’s box with ball striking the home teams centre back on the arm leaving the ref no option but to give a penalty which the away team dually putting away.

2 nil at half time to the visitors.

The second half started with Abernant making 2 substitutions and it was the home team who started the half brightly, Karl Williams making a tell tale break from mid-field taking the ball to the edge of the box and hitting crisp shot only for the away teams keeper to tip the ball over the bar, another chance fell to David Day who but the ball inches wide of the post, but it was the away team who weathered the initial attacks who scored first in the second half with another defensive error by the home team leaving the visitors forward another 1 on 1 with the keeper, which he dually scored, 0 -3

The rest of the 2nd half went back and forth with the both teams having chances but failing to capitalise, Abernant made to further changes.

It wasn't until the 77th minute when the next goal was scored and it went to the visitors again, it came from  a well worked corner with the home teams keeper failing to deal with it for the away team to have an easy tap in from 2 yards, 0 - 4.

Abernant made another change in the final 10 minutes but it was the away team who scored again with nice link play between their midfield and their front line, who shot a well struck shot from 20yards leaving Abernants keeper no chance to make the save, 0 - 5 to the away team,

Even though the result was 0 - 5, we can take a lot of positives from the game, we created plenty of chances like lasts weeks game and its only a matter of time the goals will go in, as its a new partnership up front, a couple of goals were silly defensive errors which seeing as though its only our second friendly, we can put right, we trialled a few players out to see how they got on and we got a few established players still to come into the team fro season start,

Next game is against Merthyr Bluebirds at home kick-off 2pm
