Away league match played on 16 March 2013.
Kicked off at 10:30 AM

It was back to league business this week and we started the match as league leaders looking for 3 points to remain at the top. The gaffer made a couple of changes from the last match as we started with a 4-3-1-2 formation.

              Broony

Toshy, Tam, Sharpy, Hutchy

      Millsy, Ryan, Darren

               McBee

         Mitch, Scotty

We started the match well and took an early lead after Scotty showed a great burst of pace to go past their defender and after he was fouled just inside the box, the referee pointed to the spot. Morano stepped up to slot the penalty away to give us the lead. The rest of the first half was a bit stop start and scrappy with both teams having a few decent half chances to score. We thought we should have been awarded another penalty when Millsy was fouled in the box but the referee waved play on. Just as the first half was coming to a close we were dealt a big blow when Tam was sent off for lashing out at their striker after a bad challenge.

HT 0-1

At half time Banksy decided to make a change due to the red card and Fyffee came on into centre half replacing Millsy as we went with a 4-3-2 formation for the second half. We all knew we would have to dig deep to get the result in the second half playing with a man less and we did just that with a brilliant second half performance. The lead was double early on when Mitch headed home from close range from McBee’s corner. They then pulled one back as they hit us on the counter attack. We regrouped again though and soon restored the two-goal lead after Toshy played a great ball down the right wing and Scotty crossed in for Darren to score. We then hit the crossbar after one of the best team moves of the day when Ryan and Mitch combined well together and Ryan’s cross into the box was met by Scotty but he unluckily saw his header come off the bar. They then pulled another goal back when after a goalmouth scramble the ball fell to the midfielder just inside the box to score. Yet again though we showed great character and Mitch scored the goal of the game when he got on the end of Craig’s pass and as the keeper came off his line, the big man brilliantly lobbed the ball over him into the bottom left corner of the net. Mitch then completed his hat-trick to make sure of the points when he got on the end of Ryan’s cross to fire past the keeper.

FT 2-5

A great three points and performance as we made it 12 games undefeated with every player involved putting a great shift especially second half playing with 10 men.
