Home league match played on 08 February 2015.
Kicked off at 10:00 AM

On what could be mistaken for a summer’s morning the mighty AFC took to the pitch again to get back to winning ways. It was clear to see that the alcohol consumption from the previous night was taking its toll on the way AFC were playing. Although creating chance after chance, there was no urgency in the play and dare I say, it was a little sloppy. I must clear something up before Bruno has a moan though. Martin is down for 5 goals today as to make up for the extra 1 Bruno has received in a previous week. Now back to the game. We were doing everything but score. The bar was rattled on more than 1 occasion. Martin hit a delightful shot against the underside of the bar, colin came close with a header and their own defenders had a couple of goal line clearances. Serdal and Milton linked up well down the left and forced many a corner, 2 of which ended up falling at Bruffs feet but we all know how that ended. Their keeper made a good save from Bruno but in fairness, we should have been 1-0 to the good by now. They did have the odd break via a long ball or 2 but Luke and Rich nullified those attacks. The pressure paid off after Colin converted another great cross, probably from Rob (good Rob/Herbal Rob) quickly followed by another header from Martin. A much more convincing header than the 1 he planted after Bruffs cross. Nelli and Colin were playing some solid football in the middle and they worked the ball forward to Bruno. No one could have guessed what happened next as Bruno squared unselfishly to Martin who planted the ball in an empty net. Serdal and Rob continued to bomb forward in what was an extremely attacking lineup. Special mention to Martin again though as when the oppo did break, he was always back covering. Josh did make a solid save at his near post just when the oppo smelt blood. There were 2 of 3 occations when Rich and Luke covered their FB’s as well. Nothing gets past those beasts!

HT – 3:0

Fowler replaced Nelli for the 2nd half but I can only imagine that’s down this being the most likely game he will score in, not based on Nelli’s performance. We started the 2nd half fast as Milton and Rob were having a field day down their wings. For the majority of this half it seemed more a case of who was going for the worst miss as we should have reached double figures. Bruff drew a foul down the right wing and Rob latched a peach of a ball to the back post which Martin tucked away. Martin got his 4th quickly followed by his 5th (Bruno’s real life goal). Bruno made a couple of good assists in this half which is a great attribute for a CF! Bruno ended up 1on1 soon after but unfortunately couldn’t find the corner. Fowler was doing some dogged work in the middle, breaking up the play and having a shot from distance. The shot is still in orbit. The oppo did manage to find a lifeline as the ball bobbled across the area and Rich sliced it into his own net. Not what his performance deserved but football is a cruel game. Bruffs running paid off as he ended up with a glorious chance to open his account but he couldn’t bring the ball down in any way. Fowler was next with a sitter, although slightly further out but his control was lacking. Next up for the miss of the day goes to Rob as he was played through 1on1 and couldn’t get it past the keeper. Nelli was back on now for the beast that is YaYa and he showed us all how to finish with a cool goal slotted into the corner. Having seen what a finish looks like, Tee was next up with a 1on1. This was probably the easiest of the lot with the whole goal to aim for but unfortunately, he just isn’t the player he was 3 years ago and he scuffed it well wide. Sorry if I missed any bits but forgotten half game by 3pm....
