After the 5-1 win from last week Southbrook headed into this game top of the league, So the aim from the start was to ensure we got the win, In the talk before the game we set out to win the 50/50 balls and put in 100% effort in , Just as we kicked off there was a downpour of rain but this didn't knock us out of our stride as we had some nicely early play in the final third, It would take us 5 mins before we got our first free kick in a dangerous area as Peter Burgess floating cross was met by Ian Hunt who saw his effort come off the base of the post, It was all southbrook for the first 30 mins but not making the visitors pay as numerous chances went a miss, approaching half time Southbrook had a major shock as the ball bounced kindly for J.S.C in the Southbrook box and was coolly dispatched by the J.S.C forward making the score 0-1 with there first shot of the game.

Second half

After a good team talk at half time where we all said to carry on how we were playing as it was only a matter of time before our luck changed, And thats exactly what happened as on the 55 min mark Jamie Brown raced down the channel before cutting the ball back into the box where Ian Hunt was who turned his man and was brought down inside the box,There was no hesitation from the ref as he pointed to the spot it was exactly what Southbrook deserved, Pete Burgess stepped up to fire the ball into the bottom right hand corner making the score 1-1, Southbrook really did have the wind in their sails now getting forward at every opportunity, The Southbrook midfield was in complete control with Windy, Liam,Ian pulling all the strings in the middle of the park, It would be this combination who created the second goal, As some nice play in the centre of the park lead to Ian playing the ball out wide to Jamie Brown who skinned his man twice before crossing from the by line into the 6 yard box where a late run from Liam Baker who flicked on to Ashley Windy who swooped in with a diving header into the top left hand corner making it 2-1 to the home team. Southbrook were starting to run riot and it should have been 3-1 minutes later as some good play from Pete Burgess lefted Liam Baker with a tap in to a empty net but it was wrongly ruled out for offside,It would be Southbrook again coming close to scoring a third as MC run from his own half skinning a couple of defenders on the way before firing into the side netting, It would be Pete Burgess who would wrap the game up on the 75 as a lovely pass from the sub Ryan Kajko split the defence putting Pete Burgess through on goal before slotting into the bottom corner.

Great all round performance from the whole team and 100% effort in every tackle.

Motm - Ian Hunt
