MITCHELL GRABS YET ANOTHER HAT-TRICK !!

Boythorpe F.C...1  AFC Walton...9

The blues handed out YET another lesson in goal scoring to another new boy team to the league, this afternoon, at Tupton Hall School. Playing on a flat, but VERY NARROW pitch, AFC Walton found RECORD APPEARANCE maker, Alan Hardy, lining up against them in the Boythorpe goal, in his FIRST match for his new club since his transfer, a couple of weeks ago.

Benny named an attacking line up in a 3-4-1-2 formation, and they won a corner in the first few seconds, that saw Silcock head the chance over. Browns sloppy pass after 4 mins saw Boythorpe break clear, but the shot went well wide. The hosts were in a spirited mood and saw a corner flash wide of Furniss's goal moments later. Then on 9 minutes had a gilt edged chance to take the lead, Furniss made a hash of a back pass letting the ball come off him into the path of a Boythorpe striker, the keeper then made a challenge, making contact with the ball, but was adjudged to have fouled the player in the process, and the Ref pointed to the spot. Justice was done when the keeper dived to his right to push the spot kick away.

From the breakaway the blues won a corner, Bettney rolled the ball to Lee Walton who's shot rebounded to Wright, but he saw his effort go over. Walton were beginning to get a hold of the game after a shaky start, and Megyesi then traded passes with Mitchell but saw his effort go wide. Megyesi then set Lee Walton clear, and seeing Hardy off hs line, lobbed the keeper but the ball went agonisingly wide of the post. A poor kick by Hardy was pounced on by Wright, but again the shot was put wide. On 20 mins a Bettney run picked out Lee Walton, and although 1 on 1 with the keeper he squeezed his shot AGAIN wide.

Hardy then come to Boythorpes rescue saving bravely at Mitchells feet, but injuring himself in the process, the ball from this broke clear and Boythorpe swept upfield, the cross came in and Boythorpe prodded the ball home, but the striker was offside. Hardy was then replaced after his injury and his replacment was soon in action, saving as Mitchell bore down on him. The visitors took the lead however on 27 mins, a cross into the box was nodded on by Mitchell finding WRIGHT who SMASHED the ball home. 1 goal led to another a minute later, this time Wright picking out LEE WALTON who slid the ball home.

Walton were on top at this point with the change of keeper affecting the hosts, Bettney, Lee Walton, Wright, Megyesi and Mitchell were ALL making a nuisance of themselves, carving out chances. On 41 mins Bettneys fine run saw him fire a ball across the 6 yard box, but the chance missed everybody. A throw in picked out Wright but his cross drifted harmlessly wide. LEE WALTON grabbed the goal of the game on 44 mins, Boythorpe lost the ball in midfield it was seized upon by Walton, and seeing the keeper off his line, he sublimly lofted the ball over him into the net. Browns free kick then found Mitchell, who's shot was saved. Then a Bettney cross was headed inches wide by Wright. There was still time for a FOURTH in added time, a free kick was won on the edge of the box and BETTNEY picked his spot, leaving the keeper flat footed going the wrong way.  HALF TIME  Boythorpe F.C..0 AFC Walton...4.

Benny made a few changes at half time, resorting to a 4-4-2 formation for the second half.Brown fizzed in a low shot that was well saved moments into the half, and Bettney and Goodwins fine 1-2 set Bettney clear, his cross picked out Wright who's shot was cleared. Returning Bonsons strong run and shot was blocked, and the same player went close minutes later, firing over after failing to pick out Paul Walton who was better placed in the middle. Paul Walton was unlucky in the 53rd minute when a scuffed clearance found him, but he couldnt get the ball from under his feet and he was eventually crowded out.

At the other end the unfortunate Brown scuffed the ball past his own keeper and in off the post, to bring Boythorpe slightly back into the game. They threatened again moments later when a shot flashed across Furniss's goal. Brown came to the vsitors rescue blocking a free kick on 54 mins as Boythorpe started to make a game of it. Goodwin went close at the other seeing his header saved from a corner. The next goal was important, a superb team move saw Brown pick out the run of Bettney, he sped down the wing before rolling the ball across to WRIGHT who fired home from 8 yards. Paul Walton then was perfectly placed, but failed to connect with a cross from Bettney.

MITCHELL grabbed the visitors SIXTH goal after being played through by Lee Walton, he dribbled the ball round the keeper before tapping home. He then played MEGYESI in after 79 minutes to score as they began to take total control of the game. Cartwright came on with 10 mins to go to replace Furniss in the visitors goal, and was soon in action claiming a through ball off an attackers head. MITCHELL then found himself upended in the Boythorpe box. He took the spot kick himself, but he scruffily stubbed the ball, taking the keeper the wrong way in the process. He rounded off the scoring, and his HAT-TRICK, on 86 mins this time firing in a shot after being played in by Bonson. FULL TIME  Boythorpe F.C...1  AFC Walton....9.
