Boythorpe went into thier second game of the season against the Old enemy Bolsover C, making just one or two changes. In came Players, Player of the year Martin Potter, replacing Furniss in goal, who was out with work commitments, but later took his place on the bench. Moving into the full back slot was Phil Lawrence enabling Bonson to take his favoured left midfield berth.

The blues had the best of starts, taking the lead after just 4 minutes, Wright wriggled his way to the by line before cutting a low cross into the 6 yard box leaving SCOTT BENNETT to do the rest, putting the defender under pressure before getting the lightest of touches past the keeper. Bolsover almost caught the blues back four napping after 8 mins, but a smart tackle by Hardy averted the danger. Back at the other end, and great work between Scott Bennett and Lee Wright almost put Bonson through, but the pass just evaded him. Walton went close on 11 mins when his effort from 30 yards out flashed just wide.

It was almost unlucky 13 for Boythorpe when an effort came back off the post, only for Lawrence, who guiding the ball for Potter, got the lightest of touches on the ball, and the ref blew for a back pass just 10 yards from goal, the wall stood solid, and the shot went for a corner. Lawrence was to make ammends for this error within a couple of minutes, bravely getting his head to the ball and clearing 3 cosecutive headers. Bonson again went close on 17 mins, a superb run and pass to Shane Bennett by Widerman only ended with a loose pass. Wright nutmegged a Bolsover defender moments later, but the ball bobbled out for a goal kick, as Boythorpe kept up the pressure, a quick throw by Lawrence flicked on by Wright to Walton who again fired just over.

Bolsover again showed how dangerous they were on 21 mins, a hard tackle by Higginbottom still saw the winger emerge with the ball, he ran on before finding 2 of his men unmarked in the box  with a pinpoint cross, but they fluffed the chance heading wide. Widerman then showed his class, first going on a great run before shooting just wide. He hit the target though on 31 mins, A great through ball was knocked on by Scott Bennett allowing WIDERMAN to race through before cleverly beating the keeper.

As half time approached Potter had to be at his best, making a great diving save as the Boythorpe defence was cut to ribbons with a superb through ball. Despite this Boythorpe added to the lead after 43 mins, a Goodwin clearance went over the Bolsover defence and sent the pacy Widerman clear, as he tried to round the keeper he was clipped and sent tumbling over and the ref pointed to the spot WRIGHT stepped up and sent the keeper the wrong way, but the ref ordered a retake, the striker kept his nerve and did the same again at the second time of asking registering Boythorpes 50th goal in all games this season. HALF TIME Bolsover Old Boys 'C'...0 Boythyorpe...3.

Despite Bennys wise words at half time, the warning wasnt heeded,  and Bolsover got themselvs back into the game, in the 50th minute, a needless free kick was given away 30 yards from goal, with a strong end to end wind behind him, the captain smashed the free kick inches under Potters crossbar for 3-1. They made it 3-2 within 3 mins a hopefull ball out wasnt dealt with by Hardy, leaving the striker to race clear of the Boythorpe defence before firing past Potter.

Boythorpe shook themselvs from this and restored thier 2 goal advantage just 2 mins later. A Shane Bennett corner was neatly stabbed home by WRIGHT  at the near post. On 57 mins yet another silly free kick saw Potter make another blinding save from a header as Boythorpe left the striker totally unmarked  6 yards from goal. From the resulting corner panic ensued in the Boythorpe 18 yard box, with a rash tackle by Hardy giving the hosts a chance from the spot. The usually clinical skipper fired the penalty wide and this must have still been on his mind just 3 mins later when he was spotted by the referee lashing out at Shane Bennett and given a straight RED card.

This was the turning point of the game as everything was going through the midfield. Bolsovers last real chance came on 68 mins, Hardy allowed the ball under his foot and the striker raced clear but put his shot wide. Potter picked up a nasty knee injury on 70 mins, he allowed a free kick to bounce in front of him and was almost caught out, he landed awkwardly as he scrabled backwards to deal with the effort.

WRIGHT grabbed YET ANOTHER hat trick on 75 mins, a great knock by Scott Bennett sent the striker clear and he cooly finished the job. He almost added is fourth on 77 mins Bonson sent a great ball up the wing and he cut inside, but shot wide. On 80 mins Walton won the ball in the middle and a good touch and cross by Bonson was met by Scott Bennett, but he shot wide. Hardy found himself way upfield, a knock out by Goodwin found him and he went on a great run before crossing the ball but it was just over run by Scott Bennett.

Boythorpe ended the game strongly a Higginbottom cross in the 87th minute, was met by WIDERMAN who climbed above the keeper to nod home. GOODWIN added a 7th a minute from time a Shane Bennett corner caused havoc in the box and was stabbed home by the stand in skipper during the goal mouth scramble putting Boythorpe top of the league on goal difference.
