Home league match played on 28 September 2008.
Kicked off at 10:45 AM

Boythorpe were looking to make it 2 wins on the bounce, against a team that they should realistically easily turn over. Brown had the first chance of the match, when he fizzed in a 35 yard rasper, that the visiting keeper could only parry away. Holmebrook then had a chance of their own when a cross left the home defence static, leaving Potter to tip the attackers looping header over the bar. It was then the home teams turn to go close when Goodwins long range effort was again parried by the nervous keeper, and Wright following up could only fire over from 8 yds while under pressure from a defender. It was turning into an end to end game as Holmebrook went close, when a shot from outside the box 'crashed' against the upright and Boythorpe were relieved when Whitehead made a saving tackle. This however was short lived as Boythorpe failed to deal with the corner, and a shot from the edge of the box, went through a crowd of players and into the bottom corner for 1-0. The home team failed to heed the warnings and another corner after 18 mins saw an effort go close. Holmebrook increased the lead 2 mins later when a good team move saw the attacker streak clear, rounding Potter before firing low into the net. This saw Boythorpe spark into action and soon reduce the arrears, when Walton floated over a peach of a free kick by the touchline causing panic and when the ball fell to HOLLINDALE he 'coolly' lobbed the keeper. Boythorpe then began to exert pressure and were rewarded after 27 mins when a defender headed over his own keeper as the visitors began to buckle. Holmebrook continued to cause problems down the left and Higginbottom was at times under a great deal of pressure. The visitors had the final say of the half again taking the lead after 40 mins a little against the run of play giving Potter no chance with another shot through a crowd of players from 20 yds. Within 3 mins of the restart Boythorpe could have gone further behind as they made a mess of a free kick deep in the visitors half and letting them break clear but the attacker FLUFFED his chance and shot wide. Boythorpe won a corner after 50 mins Whitehead headed the corner powerfully towards goal, only to be denied by a fantastic reaction save, this started a goalmouh scramble and as a defender tried to clear the ball, he could only hit WRIGHT, and the ball went into the net for the 'strikers' 10th goal in 12 starts. It began to look good for the blues, and the visitors keeper was called upon again saving well from a Widerman effort, Holmebrook still were a creditable force and a mistake from Potter calling for the ball, but failing to gather saw another effort go wide. The keeper redeemed himself later however saving well with his legs, when another attacker had raced clear of the HOME defence. The visitors took the lead AGAIN fom a corner as Whitehead unfortunatly headed back over his keeper and 2 visiting strikers were there to force the ball over the line. Boythorpe could have levelled soon after, but substitute Jones was denied by a flying save from the keeper. Holmebrook eventually put the game to bed when a break down the right was unselfishly put across to the back post by the winger, for waiting players to tap the 5th goal home. Boythorpe take a break from League action next week  and are at home in THE DERBYSHIRE JUNIOR SUNDAY CUP 1ST ROUND AGAINST P J'S SNOOKER CLUB OF RIPLEY.
