The contest lasted 54 minutes plus injury time and concluded with a 4-2 victory for the home side.
Wolves lined up in a 3-4-1 formation, deploying three defenders at the back, four midfielders across the middle, and a lone striker leading the line. Aaryan Sharma guarded the goal, supported by Elliot Street at right defender, Josh Lea centrally, and George Dunne on the left. The midfield quartet consisted of Oliver Lea on the right, James Turley and Bailey Holmes centrally, and Isaac Sutheran on the left, with Harrison Szymanel positioned as the sole striker ahead of them. This setup was designed to provide defensive solidity through the back three, control the midfield with four players, and rely on the striker to spearhead attacks. No substitutes were named for this fixture.
The first half saw both teams contesting possession keenly, with Wolves attempting to build from the back through their defensive trio and midfield. The home side, however, managed to assert themselves and took the lead before the interval. At the 27-minute mark, the referee signalled half-time, with Hednesford Town holding a lead going into the break.
After the restart, Wolves showed greater urgency, pushing forward in search of an equaliser. Their efforts were rewarded with two goals, bringing the scoreline to 2-2 at one stage. Despite this spirited comeback, Hednesford Town regained control and struck twice more to secure the 4-2 final scoreline. The match was marked by competitive play and moments of quality from both sides, but ultimately the home team’s clinical finishing made the difference.
Aaryan Sharma was busy in goal throughout, facing numerous attempts from Hednesford’s forwards. The defensive unit of Street, Josh Lea, and Dunne worked hard to contain the opposition’s attacks but were breached on four occasions. Midfielders Turley and Holmes battled tirelessly in the centre, while Oliver Lea and Sutheran provided width and support on the flanks. Up front, Szymanel led the line with determination, contributing to Wolves’ two goals.
Though the result did not go in their favour, AFC Wolverhampton City U13 showed resilience and promise in this away friendly, gaining valuable experience against a strong Hednesford Town side on their own patch.
