Away league match played on 02 February 2019.
Kicked off at 2:00 PM

A barmy match ended in a resilient Ambassadors grabbing victory from the jaws of defeat. The opening 10 minutes was an even contest as both teams looked to get into the game. Boxgrove tending to go long over the top whilst Ambassadors opting for their usual pass and move which was met with a couple of heavy challenges from the boxgrove players. Then on 15 minutes Boxgrove took the lead when the ball was swung into the box and the attacker beat Mayne at the back post to head past Treagus. This gave Boxgrove confidence to press forward and further long balls gave Ambassadors problems and within 10 minutes they had a second goal and the luck of the bounce off two challenges put the boxgrove striker in and his shot beat Treagus at the near post. Ambassadors then made two quick changes to try and get back into the game as Jones and Ben Chivers-Gibbs came on for Grey and Alex Chivers-Gibbs. The changes had the desired effect as Ambassadors slowly wrestled control of the game back and they were rewarded when a quick free kick from Noller found Theobald who was brought down in the area for a penalty. Noller stepped up and sent the keeper the wrong way from the spot. With Boxgrove on the back foot Ambassadors pressed and were rewarded a minute before half time as Oppe played in Touclet who jinked one way and then another before beating the keeper with a neat shot. Half Time 2-2. If the first half was exciting the second half beat that. It got off to a terrible start as within 5 minutes Boxgrove retook the lead as a dinked cross from the right was met at the back post with a header which Treagus got a hand too but couldn't claw out. It was soon 4-2 and a clear header from a corner went into the top corner and then 5-2 as again from a corner the initial header was won and then the follow up smashed home. Ambassadors made a couple of changes as Chivers-Gibbs anb Grey came back on for Touclet and Theobald as they looked for way back into the game. This came shortly afterwards as Oppe played in Ben Chivers-Gibbs who bent the ball into the top corner with superb finish. Game on as Ambassadors sniffed a victory and Boxgrove started to lose their heads. Ambassadors then grabbed another as Oppe stabbed the ball home after a through ball from Ben Chivers-Gibbs. A this point Boxgrove pressed the self destruct button as their number 10 decided to take the ref on with a few verbals and got his marching orders. Ambassadors grabbed the initiative of the extra man and went in search of the equaliser and didn't have to wait long as Ben Chivers-Gibbs finished smartly to bring the scores level. Then the unlikely comeback was completed with eight minutes to go as Ben-Chivers Gibbs squared to brother Alex who fired home past the keeper. Ambassadors just needed to hold firm for the last stages of the game and although Magill nearly beat his own keeper with a flicked back header they managed to see out the game for a remarkable victory. Man of the Match: Ben Chivers-Gibbs, excellent attacking performance and two vital goals.
