On 28 February 2026, Arborfield Aces U10s Aztecs hosted EPC Development Club U10 Reds in a league home match at Farley Hill Primary School, kicking off promptly at 12:00pm. The 9-a-side encounter lasted 50 minutes plus added time, with the Aces ultimately falling 2-1 to their visitors in a closely contested game.
Arborfield Aces lined up in a 3-3-2 formation, deploying three defenders, three midfielders, and two forwards. Byron took his place in goal, tasked with organising the backline and keeping the opposition at bay. The defensive trio consisted of Tommy on the right, Oscar centrally, and Ethan on the left, each expected to provide solidity and cover across the defensive third. In midfield, Jasper operated on the right flank, George held the central midfield role, and Jacob patrolled the left side, all charged with linking defence and attack while supporting both phases of play. Up front, Cameron led the line on the right, with Theo positioned on the left, both forwards aiming to create and convert chances. No substitutes were named for the Aces on this occasion.
The first half saw both sides probing for openings, with the teams locked in a tactical battle until the half-time whistle at 25 minutes. The Acesโ defensive shape was tested as EPC Development Club began to assert themselves in the latter stages of the first half.
Shortly after the break, EPC Development Club broke the deadlock in the 33rd minute, finding the net to take a 1-0 lead. Arborfield Aces responded with determination, and their efforts were rewarded in the 40th minute when Theo curled a direct free-kick beyond the goalkeeper, levelling the score and reigniting hope for the home side.
The match remained finely poised as both teams sought to gain the upper hand. However, EPC Development Club struck again in the 49th minute, restoring their advantage with a second goal that ultimately proved decisive.
Despite the defeat, Jasperโs industrious performance on the right midfield was a standout, earning him the player of the match accolade for his tireless work rate and influence across the pitch.
In the end, Arborfield Aces U10s Aztecs showed resilience and attacking intent but were unable to overcome EPC Development Club U10 Reds, who secured a hard-fought 2-1 victory at Farley Hill Primary School.
