Away league match played on 14 September 2013.
Kicked off at 9:00 AM

1 minutes extra time played.

Today saw us away again with an early kick off at 9am at Ulidia playing fields to take on Rosario Youth in the League.

With our Captain Reece Atkinson still away on holiday, Matthew Guest with a one match suspension, we then got the late new that we would be without Jack Patterson as well due to illness. So it meant a reshuffle of personnel and the boys would have to graft to get a result and that’s exactly what they did.

Edward Muldrew would go into the back four to replace Matthew Guest with Noah Crenshaw dropping into Eddie’s central midfield role and that meant new comer Reece Thompson would get his first start up front. We would find this was going to be one of those days when you create chance after chance but struggle to find the net and we would hit the woodwork five times throughout the match. The first came in the 19th minute when Stuart Hannah would see his shot come off the bottom of the post and he would hit the post again in the 32nd minute. Then on the stroke of half time Jordan Mulholland would hit a screamer from 25 yards out only to watch his shot come of the crossbar, but for all the possession and chances we would go in at half time all square.

HALF TIME: 0 . 0

The second half would be much the same as the first where we would pile on the pressure but it looked as if we weren’t going to get the breakthrough. Then in the 52nd minute it finally came when we were awarded the corner the ball was floated into the Rosario box and the cleared it just outside their box where it was met by Curtis Higgins who when sent the ball back into the box and Ryan Hannah run on to it and lashed it into the back of the net, 1 : 0 Ards at last. We would keep the pressure on in search of a second to secure the result but jet again it would be the woodwork that would be the extra man for Rosario. In the 65th minute Reece Thompson would watch in disbelieve as his shot came of the Bar, the 7 minutes later it would be Ryan Hannah who would have to watch his shot come of the bar. It just wasn’t going to happen and Jai Sykes had very little to do in the match.

FULL TIME: 0 . 1

MANAGERS COMMENTS:
