This week with no league match it was decided that we would take a friendly game against St.Patricks who our riding high in the premier division of the SBYL.

The match got underway with St. Patricks pressing right from the start and within 5 mins StPats made it 1-0 with a 25 yard shot hitting the back of the net giving Jai Sykes in goal no chance .Jai was to make 2 great saves from the St.Pats striker to keep Ards in the game .Ards tried to fight their way back into the game but playing into the wind made if difficult and on 19 mins St.Pats made in two with another long range effort that gave the keeper no chance. Ards then started to put some good moves together with Jack Patterson going close and then Matthew Cunningham hitting one over the bar. Matthew Guest was also having a good game putting in some crunching tackles along with Ryan Hannah who is now starting to get back to his best. With trying to get back into the game Ards were caught on the counter attack and the St.Pats striker made it 3.0 just before half time.

Half time Ards 0 St.Pats 3

Changes at half time were needed Kurtis Barkley was moved to centre midfield and Ryan Hannah made way for Brandon McFerran  at right back and the team talk was let’s get it down and play some football. The second half got underway and now Ards had the wind behind them Ards were in no mood to give up lightly .Kurtis Barkley was playing some great passes and again Jack Patterson was causing lots of problems done the right wing .An injury to Matthew Guest gave Ryan Hannah another chance to come on and show what he would do and within minutes he played a ball to Stuart Graham who made no mistake and Ards were back in it 1-3.For the next  10mins it was all Ards with Jack Hare making some well timed tackles and Reese Atkinson clearing any Jack missed but for all the pressure Ards could not find the net .Andrew Graham down the left was playing well with some great off the ball running and Marcus Barron at left back  also putting in some good tackles .Against the run of play Ards were to concede another 2 making it Ards 1 St.Pats 5.With the  introduction of Stuart Hannah and Christopher Duncan for the last 5 mins Ards could not find the net.

Final Score Ards Youth 1 v St.Pats 5

Reflecting after the game the score does not reflect how well Ards played if we had taken our changes the game would have been a lot closer than the scoreline reads.

Best on the day there were a few too many to mention but man of the match was Kurtis Barkley another great game (keep it up)
